CONGRATULATIONS

The Six Book Challenge has officially ended today, well done to everyone that took part and especially those that have completed the challenge!

We will be posting out your certificates and some final goodies to you this week and holding our last prize draw for one last lucky winner.

We hope that you enjoyed reading something new and discovering the leisure collection from the library, the collection has expanded massively over the summer and is continuing to do so, so please visit us to ‘check out’ our new stock and remember, we’re open 24 hours for you to come and browse our shelves.

We will be looking into future fun reading events such as a reading group for you book lovers out there to promote the fun and pleasure of reading (not just 50 shades of gray).

All that remains to say is a big thank you for taking part and an even bigger well done for taking part!

Launch Day

We have officially launched the Six Book Challenge!

It was lovely to see so many people visiting our Mobile Library and exploring the new stock we have from Bath Public Libraries. We have had a good amount of interest in the challenge and many more keen readers have come to visit us in the main library (Dept. A9, Education Centre). If you still struggle to reach us, why not send us an e-mail with some of the authors and genres you like and we can send you an item in the internal post.

If you haven’t joined up yet then come and take a look at our stock or make a note of our next mobile library date on the 1st March. The main library is also open 24/7 which you can access with your staff swipe card. All the stock can be loaned out at any time day or night – the ultimate takeaway service!

A few people who came to visit us said they didn’t think they would have the time to read 6 books but after seeing our quick read collections written especially by well-loved authors such as James Patterson, it was easy to see how quickly you can finish a book, particularly when you enjoy it enough not to put it down.

Books on MP3 and CD are also a brilliant way to enjoy the challenge as they can be listened to on the go. Users of them find them particularly useful when doing otherwise dull tasks such as housework or more strenuous activities such as going to the gym or long walks.

So come and sign up to the challenge today. For every month you loan out an item you will be entered into a prize draw, and all for free!

See you very soon and hope all those of you that have loaned a book are enjoying your choices 🙂

The RUH Library Team

Hello world of bibliophiles!

Welcome to the RUH Six Book Challenge blog site!

Welcome to the RUH Six Book Challenge blog site!

From Febuary – July 2012 the RUH Academy Library in Bath will be running the Six Book Challenge. Participants of the Six Book Challenge are invited to read six books (or more of course!) over the next six months to discover how enjoyable reading can be, rediscover old favourites or improve literacy skills. The challenge is open to ALL staff at the RUH!

We are working in partnership with Bath Public Libraries and will have rotating stock each month, meaning there will be wide range of books for readers to delve into. We will also have a monthly prize draw for those taking part and taking a book out each month. Participants will receive a certificate at the end of the challenge, and also perhaps a renewed or newfound love of reading!

We will be setting up a ‘mobile library’ within the hospital so books are easily swapped and new reads discovered. You can also join the library by visiting us whilst we’re out and about. We encourage you to read whatever books you enjoy, however we will also have different themes of selected stock each month to perhaps tempt you into trying something new. We will also be holding various events throughout this time with a variety of activites in the library to coincide with other literary events.

The Six Book Challenge will officially launch outside the Lansdown in the RUH on February 1st 2012 – come and visit us at our ‘mobile library’ or in the main RUH Academy Library and get involved!

There will be 'Brand' new books added monthly to the RUH stock thanks to Bath Public Libraries
